Approximately twenty-five thousand households in Queensland's southeast were left experiencing outages on Monday's dawn after powerful weather events impacted the area, bringing strong winds topping 109 kilometers per hour.

Substantial Hailstones and Broad Damage

Residents witnessed large ice chunks as large as 7cm in some areas. Meteorological experts confirmed that multiple regions across Queensland had been affected by substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency crews were working to restore energy supply throughout the affected regions, with approximately seventy teams activated to address the extensive power failures.

Southern State's Weather Woes

Simultaneously, around 1,000 households in the southern state also encountered energy failures after the capital city experienced its wettest day in a year and a half.

Rescue organizations handled over five hundred calls for help across the state, primarily for structural issues but also for downed trees and inundation.

• Werribee - experienced significant storm damage
• Hoppers Crossing suburb - numerous assistance requests
• Wyndham region - nearly 180 help reports

At one point on the previous day, in excess of 28k electricity consumers in the state were experiencing outages.

Weather Forecast

Moist weather were predicted to continue along large portions of eastern Queensland this next several days as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the coast.

Tuesday was predicted as the most rainy day, with persistent storm activity predicted across different parts of both regions.

Medical Alert

Health officials alerted that there was an increased chance of weather-related respiratory issues across the state's northern country region, specifically given the existing atmospheric conditions.

This warning comes after past events where comparable situations led to major medical consequences in the state.
